The Village of Park Forest has announced its official schedule for board meetings and holidays in 2025, which was approved earlier this week during the board meeting on Monday night
The Board of Trustees will convene on the first, third, and fourth Monday evenings of each month at 7 p.m. Additionally, a Saturday Rules Meeting is typically scheduled for the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. From January to April 2025, the board will hold three meetings before transitioning to a reduced summer schedule beginning in May.
Village Manager Tom Mick said residents are welcome to attend the board meetings to stay informed and engaged with local matters.
"Residents are encouraged to participate in these meetings and share their thoughts and ideas with the mayor and trustees," Mick stated. "However, please note that public comments during Monday evening board meetings are governed by specific rules of procedure that do not facilitate back-and-forth dialogue."
Mick elaborated that residents will have the opportunity to speak for five minutes, which exceeds the two-minute requirement set by state law. Any concerns raised during the board meetings will be referred to Village staff for appropriate follow-up. Often, trustees or the mayor will make an effort to meet with residents after the meeting to address any issues that have been brought forward.
"For residents who prefer a more informal setting for discussion, we warmly welcome them to attend the Saturday morning meetings," Mick added. "These gatherings provide an excellent opportunity for residents to connect with the mayor and the board while discussing their concerns in a comfortable and relaxed environment."
Park Forest is set to observe a total of 11 holidays throughout the year. This includes notable days such as the day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday, as well as Christmas Eve, which falls on Dec. 24
