The Village of Park Forest hosts its annual Holiday Market on the Village Green on Saturday, Dec 9. The event runs from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and will have live reindeer, Santa Claus, carolers, and a food truck. 

DownTown Property Manager Heather Jones said the event is an excellent way for the Village to kick off the holiday season and for residents to see what DownTown Park Forest offers.

"This event will have something for everyone," Jones said. "Kids will get an opportunity to pet the reindeer, meet Santa, and leave with a goody bag. For the adults, they can experience the DownTown and shop at many of the local businesses we have down here."

Jones said nearly two dozen vendors will be at this year's Holiday Market. She said the Village called on businesses across Park Forest and neighboring communities to participate and offer their services.  

"I think it's so important to shop local and invest in the businesses right here in town," Jones said. "Many people are just starting their holiday shopping. So, the Holiday Market is a great way for people to see what goods and services local small businesses here in Park Forest have to offer."

Jones said the Holiday Market will end a tree lighting of the Village's Christmas tree next to Tall Grass Art Association. 

Residents are encouraged to visit this year's Holiday Market on the Village Green, between Main Street and Cunningham Drive - just behind Village Hall's north entrance.

•  Reindeer Petting 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. 
• Holiday Caroling 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
• Meet Santa 4 p.m.
• Tree lighting 4:30 p.m.
