On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Village celebrated Fall Fest and the grand reopening of Somonauk Adventure Park, a complete remodeling several years in the making.
The new park allows guests to experience nature unlike anywhere else in the south suburbs, boasting kayaking, fishing, a kitchen, a fire pit, a basketball court, walking paths, and an all-abilities playground.
Residents and neighbors came out and enjoyed the park's new amenities while celebrating Fall Fest. They did arts and crafts, like painting pumpkins, Somonauk Sam, and the park's snake, while enjoying live music, kayaking, fishing, s'mores, and raffles. The Village's farmers market, the Main Street Market, relocated to Somonauk Park, for one day only, to add an additional festive flare.
Somonauk Park is located at the intersection of Somonauk Street and Sangamon Street in Park Forest, and is open daily from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
