The Village of Park Forest will host a variety of events throughout July. The Village hosts its annual 4th of July parade on Tuesday to kick off the month.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Orchard Drive. Later that evening, residents could enjoy live entertainment on the Village Green at 7 p.m. as BBI takes the stage. A fireworks show will follow at dusk at Central Park.
The following week, the Main Street Nights concert series continue on July 12 at the Village Green at 6:30 p.m. Then, on Saturday, July 15, the Commission on Human Relations presents "Ice Cream & Line Dancing."
That event will also occur on the Village Green, starting at noon and ending around 3 p.m. Residents could enjoy free ice cream and show off their moves.
The following Saturday, July 22, is "Sunset Soiree," an all-white outdoor dining experience with catered food and drinks on the Village Green. There will be live entertainment will be on deck for this event.
In addition to events the Village is hosting, Park Forest is also participating in "Plastic Free July," a global movement to encourage people to reduce the amount of single-use plastic they use.
Every day, the Sustainability Office will provide residents with tips and challenges to cut back on single-use plastic.
Additionally, the Village hosts its drive-thru RecycleFest event on Saturday, July 29. The event will run from 8 a.m. until noon at the Village Hall parking lot. Residents can bring oversized items like bikes, sporting goods, and televisions. There is a $20 fee per TV.
Other items like plastic bags and paper for shredding will not be accepted at RecycleFest. For more information about this event, click here.
