The Village of Park Forest Commission on Community Relations presents the biennial Park Forest Oscar Awards in late January.
Community Relations Coordinator Evelyn Randle says it is an excellent opportunity for residents to nominate someone who goes above and beyond to help make a difference in the community.
"We're accepting nominations from residents encouraging them to nominate a person they believe should be recognized for their kind acts," Randle said. "It can be someone who ran an errand for you when you were sick or who provides excellent customer service at one of the businesses here in town. It's another way to say thank you."
Randle said there are multiple ways residents can submit nominations for to her. She said they could drop the forms off at Village Hall's Economic Development and Planning office on the second level. Additionally, she noted forms can be mailed to Village Hall or sent to her via email. Residents can click here for more details.
Randle reiterated the deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Dec 29. She said this year's Oscars will be held at Freedom Hall with a Hollywood feel.
"We're going all out this year," Randle said. "We'll have a red carpet with cameras and bright lights. We want to celebrate our nominees and give them their flowers while they still can smell them."
The Park Forest Community Oscars occur on Saturday, Jan 27., at 6 p.m. at Freedom.
