Park Forest invites residents to test their knowledge with the Black History Month display
In honor of Black History Month, the Village of Park Forest is hosting a monthlong “Guess Who” competition that invites residents to test their knowledge of influential Black figures while learning more about their impact on history and culture.
The competition features a series of easel boards on display in the Village Hall lobby, showcasing prominent Black and African Americans from a range of fields, including entertainment, sports, politics, civil rights, and the arts. Participants are asked to identify each individual by name and submit their answers using a form provided next to the display.
Completed forms can be placed in a submission box located in the lobby throughout the month of February. At the conclusion of the competition, up to five winners will be selected from among those with correct or near-correct entries. Winners will receive gift bags, gift cards, and other prizes to recognize their participation.
Communications Manager Evelyn Randle, alongside the Commission on Human Relations, which is hosting the competition, said the initiative is designed to encourage engagement while highlighting the significance of Black History Month.
“This is a fun, interactive way for residents to learn more about the contributions Black leaders and trailblazers have made to our country,” Randle said. “It creates an opportunity for people of all ages to reflect, learn, and take part in something meaningful together."
Randle added, "I'm providing everyone with two clues to get everyone on the right track. Now, let’s see if you can find the others.”
The competition is open to all residents and can be completed during regular Village Hall business hours. Village officials encourage residents to stop by, take their time reviewing the displays, and participate at their own pace.
