The Park Forest Main Street Market is excited to announce its return on May 3 and is actively seeking a diverse range of vendors for the upcoming season.
Established in 1974, the Park Forest Main Street Market—formerly known as the Park Forest Farmers' Market—has built a strong connection between local residents and a variety of regional farmers, gourmet food vendors, artisans, and small businesses. As the market begins its 52nd year, village officials encourage local entrepreneurs and artisans to take part in this community tradition and showcase their products.
Prospective vendors can complete applications through the Village's website or submit a paper application directly to the market's manager, Donnica Gordon, or Margaret Lewis, the assistant director of Recreation, Parks, and Community. It’s important to note that market spaces are limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure a spot, please ensure all sections of the application are filled out thoroughly and submit your payment promptly.
The Main Street Market is located at 152 Main Street, just steps from Western Avenue, in the parking lot across from Victory Center, next to Dollar General. The market will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., from May 3 through October 25.
Village officials emphasize that the mission of the market is to create a healthier community by helping families access locally grown, fresh fruits and vegetables. In a previous interview, Lewis noted that because Park Forest is considered a food desert, the Main Street Market is essential for providing vulnerable populations with access to fresh produce. She highlighted the importance of local farmers’ participation to ensure that the community has access to clean and healthy food options.
Everyone is welcome to participate in this year's market. There is no fee for farmers and growers to join the Park Forest Main Street Market. For more information, click here.
