A Celebration of Life honoring Park Forest Police Officer Timothy M. Jones will be held Friday, Dec. 27, at Tinley Park High School, marking the final tribute to an officer whose service and sacrifice left a lasting impact on the Park Forest community and beyond.

The visitation and service will take place at the high school, located at 6111 W. 175th St. Public walk-through visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a first responder walk-through from 1 to 2 p.m. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 2 p.m.

Jones was shot in the line of duty on March 19, 2016, while serving with the Park Forest Police Department. The incident left him with catastrophic, life-altering injuries. Village officials said that despite the severity of those injuries, Jones endured more than nine years of intensive rehabilitation, demonstrating extraordinary resilience, determination, and courage.

Jones died Dec. 3, 2025, at the age of 34, as a result of complications stemming from those injuries.

Throughout his career,  Jones was known for his dedication to public service and his commitment to protecting the Park Forest community. In the years following his injury, he became a symbol of perseverance for fellow officers, first responders, and residents, who continued to support him and his family through a long and difficult journey.

Law enforcement agencies from across the region are expected to attend the service, reflecting the deep respect Jones earned throughout his career. Community members are also invited to attend and pay their respects.

Jones’ legacy of service, sacrifice, and strength will continue to be remembered by the Park Forest Police Department and the community he served with honor.
