The Village of Park Forest is hosting its Fourth of July celebration on Friday.
Organizers said the event promises an evening filled with family-friendly activities, live music, and a fireworks finale.
The parade will kick off at 6 p.m. on July 4. It'll start at the corner of Main Street and Orchard Drive and continue down to Lakewood Boulevard. It will continue west from Lakewood Boulevard to Westwood Drive. Then, the parade will turn north on Westwood Drive back to Orchard Drive before terminating at Lakewood Boulevard and Orchard Drive. Residents can line the street as the parade participants toss candy to the parade-goers.
Following the parade, singer Carla Prather will perform a set that combines soul, R&B, and house music. The concert is happening on the Village Green, 349 Main Street. Residents and visitors are encouraged to arrive early and bring lawn chairs.
The night will end with a fireworks display scheduled for 9:15 p.m. at Central Park, 410 Lakewood Blvd. The display will light up the Park Forest sky in what Village officials describe as one of the most anticipated Independence Day traditions in the area.
In addition to music and fireworks, a variety of food trucks will be present, offering barbecue, shrimp, fish, chicken, tacos, and more.
Village officials said this event aims to unite the community to celebrate the holiday with music, food, and family fun. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
