The Park Forest Police Department has issued a community alert following an incident that took place in the Lincolnwood area of the community earlier this week.
On Monday, September 10, 2018 shortly before 7 a.m., an adult woman reported that a man who had been parked on Early Street followed behind her on foot to her home on the 200 block of Illinois Street and as she entered her home, the man exposed his genitals to her and then fled eastbound. The woman indicated that no conversation occurred. The man was described as a black male possibly in his early 30s, medium build, approximately 5'10", with a light complexion and a thick, untrimmed beard. The man was described as wearing a black hoody and black sweat pants. His vehicle was described as a black, older model 4-door car.
While this incident appears to be isolated at this time, local schools were notified out of an abundance of caution and a community alert is being issued to residents, especially in the Lincolnwood subdivision.
Park Forest Police would continue to urge residents to call 911 anytime they see something suspicious. Police also say it is always a good time to have conversations with your children and loved ones regarding personal safety. Tips include avoiding being distracted by cell phones while in public, walking in pairs or groups, when possible, and generally being aware of one's surroundings.
Anyone who might have information about this incident is urged to call Park Forest Police Investigations Division at 708-748-1309.
