Information

•Recreation & Parks Department will need name, date of birth, address, phone number, and emergency number of each person registering for a trip. 

•Before participating in any program or event sponsored by the Recreation & Parks Department a waiver must be signed by the participant or responsible parent/guardian.  

•Trip return times are approximate and may change due to unforeseen circumstances and traffic.

•In the event of low enrollment, a luxury passenger van may be substituted for a motor coach bus.

•Refunds - Refunds for trips may vary due to non-refundable tickets or fees. Refund requests made prior to the trip deadline date will be given less a 5% refund fee. Cancellations made by Recreation & Parks are not subject to the 5% refund fee. Online registration fees are non-refundable. Please note: Refunds for purchases made by credit card are processed back to the credit card. Refunds for purchases made by cash or check are processed with a check (within ten business days) through the Village of Park Forest Finance Department.

Diamond Tours Refund Policy:  Please refer to their refund policy.  Travel insurance is available for purchase for an additional fee. 

•Nothing kills a good trip quicker than waiting until the last minute to register! Please sign up early or the trip that you want may have to be cancelled.

•Credit/debit card transactions are processed through Active Network, LLC.  Active Network, LLC may appear on your credit card/bank statement as the merchant for your trip purchase; rather than Village of Park Forest, Recreation & Parks.

After the presentation, enjoy a Holiday pipe organ concert in our Old Central Church!

Tea with the Train Lady & TreeTime Creations
Visit one of the most uniquely beautiful private event venues in the country and have “Holiday Tea with the Train Lady” at Wandering Tree Estate. We will attend a specially catered tea featuring salad, petite sandwiches, scones and sweets in the Estate Greenhouse specially decorated for the holidays. Madrigal carolers entertain as they wander among the Christmas model railroads set up for our event.  Internationally |recognized artist and designer of Model Railroads & Garden Railways, Elaine Silets has had her work featured with The Neiman Marcus Christmas Book as well as in the lobby of the John Hancock Building at the holidays and the Christmas windows at Tiffany& Company.  You will also be able to visit the incredible model railroad Museum and stroll the outdoor gardens where the trains will be running (weather permitting).

After our Wandering Tree Estate visit, we will stop at the Treetime Christmas Creations Showroom,  manufacturer of America's best artificial Christmas trees, wreaths, and garland. Here we are treated to a demonstration on how to create the perfect holiday decor for your home!

Join us as we view the beautiful Holiday Lights of Downtown Chicago. First, we will enjoy lunch at the Italian Village where you will select your choice of Lemon Caper Salmon, Veal Cutlet Parmesan, Four Cheese Tortellini, Chicken Tortellini or Lasagna. Afterwards we will walk two blocks to the Christkindlmarket for 45 minutes of holiday shopping before our bus departs for Lincoln Park Zoo. If you really want to have fun, make sure to wear your ugly Christmas sweater. An award for the most abominable sweater will be given. Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate after arriving at Lincoln Park Zoo as we take in their beautiful Zoolights. Next, we will ride down Michigan Avenue while enjoying popcorn and a fun Christmas Carol competition. We will see the lights of the Magnificent Mile, "Towertown," Water Tower, the Wrigley and Tribune buildings before stopping at Chicago's famous and beautiful Millennium Park for 45 minutes to take pictures and enjoy the scenery of the Cloudgate, Skating Rink, Crown Fountain and Chicago Christmas Tree. Following, we will board the bus, take in the lights of the Field Museum of Natural History and Alder Planetarium before stopping for a view of the Chicago Skyline at Copernicus Statue, and reveal our trivia winner. To wrap up our night we will see the sparkle of the Shedd Aquarium and Soldier Field before returning to Park Forest after an unforgettable night.
