Mission 007 Mentorship, a new nonprofit dedicated to empowering young adults, will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, September 6, at 12:30 p.m. in Downtown Park Forest.

Founded by Shauntia “Shante” Vasquez, the organization is located at 316 Forest Blvd. and will serve individuals aged 16 to 25. The mentorship programs aim to provide academic support, career guidance, and personal development.

“I have had a passion for more than 20 years to work with young people,” Vasquez said. “As a teenager, I didn’t have someone to mentor me or guide me through decisions about school or life. I want to be that person for someone else — to give them the little push I didn’t receive.”

Vasquez brings decades of experience to her role. In addition to holding certifications in mentoring and counseling, she has spent 20 years tutoring, coaching, and mentoring youth in both academic and extracurricular settings. She has also volunteered with church and community organizations and has worked in operations at a Fortune 500 company for over 23 years.

Mission 007 Mentorship aims to connect mentees with supportive mentors who can help them build confidence and develop essential life skills. Vasquez emphasized that the program prioritizes empathy, active listening, and personalized guidance in a safe environment.

“Whether it’s education, career advice, or personal growth, my goal is to equip young people with the tools and resources they need to succeed,” she stated.

Originally from Evergreen Park and now a resident of Hazel Crest, Vasquez was drawn to Park Forest while searching for office space. She was referred to the Downtown area by another existing nonprofit in the vicinity.

“I’m excited and grateful to God for giving me this opportunity,” Vasquez expressed. “This is not just a program — it’s a calling to help the next generation of leaders and changemakers.”
