Eight Park Forest businesses embraced the holiday season by decorating their storefront windows as part of the Winter Windows contest, sponsored by the Economic Development Advisory Group and DownTown Park Forest. The contest was open to all DownTown Park Forest businesses and ran from Dec. 1–15.
Based on a popular vote, the winners are:
First place: Park Forest Podiatry, owned and operated by Dr. Ramin Ghazizadeh, with decorations by Janell
Second place: Shakin My Head Studio, owned and operated by Yvette Lindsey
Third place: Park Forest Chiropractic Ltd., owned and operated by Dr. David Tyssen, with decorations by Ann and Sue
One resident voter also won a $75 prize.
The event was organized and promoted by EDAG member Denise Williams-Harvey in partnership with Heather Jones, DownTown manager. In addition to Park Forest residents, voters participated from several surrounding communities, including Beecher, Chicago Heights, Flossmoor, Homewood, and as far as Highland, Indiana.
“More than half the voters were from outside of Park Forest. I would like to see more Park Foresters visit, dine, and shop in Park Forest,” said Sandra Zoellner, director of economic development and planning.
Holiday window displays remain up at participating businesses, including:
Legendary Cutz & Stylez Studio, 348 Victory Drive
Tall Grass Arts Gallery, 367 Artists Walk
