The Park Forest Fire Department's Deputy Chief Ryan Roberts son Brody was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) last fall. Since then he has been undergoing treatments at St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Brody has been there since right before Thanksgiving thus requiring the rest of the family to travel between Memphis and Chicago on a weekly basis. Brody's treatments have been very successful and the whole family hopes to come home soon. Brody will continue to receive follow up treatments once he is home for the next 3 years and plenty more trips back to Memphis. In an effort to help the Robert's family, the Park Forest Firefighters Association in conjunction with the Park Forest American Legion Post has a benefit planned for this Saturday . "Briskets for Brody" will be on St Patrick's day March 17 starting at 5:00 and running until 8:00. They will be serving corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots and bread for $10 adult/ $5 kids. A portion of the cost for each corned beef brisket meal will be donated to Brody to help offset the mounting costs for the family. Other fundraisers will be happening throughout the night as well. There will be live entertainment following the dinner at 8:00 by "Saxy, Crash and the Cruizin Dogs". So come get your St. Paddy's corned beef and help out a real worthy family March 17, 5:00 to 8:00 at the Park Forest American Legion Post 1198, 1631 Western Ave. Chicago Heights, IL.
