October 9 - October 15 is Fire Prevention Week! This year the theme is "Fire won't wait, Plan your escape!"
This year we are focusing on having a fire escape plan. You need to have a plan in place on how you will escape in the event of a fire in your home before a fire occurs. Take some time to mentally plan two ways out of your home. Make sure doors and windows are accessible and operating easily. Have an outside meeting place that is a safe distance from your home where everyone should meet. Practice your drill and make sure your kids can do it on their own in case you cant help. Make sure to close doors behind you as you escape to help control the fire. Once your out stay out and call 911.
This year we have several activities planned. On October 10 we will host a Pop Up Event at Talala School from 4:30 to 6:30. On October 12 there will be a second Pop Up Event this time at Michelle Obama school at 4:30 to 6:30. Fire prevention week will conclude on Friday October 14 at the Fire Station. We will have an Open House with fun activities, vendors and demonstrations. We will finish the evening with an outdoor movie that includes hot dogs and popcorn. The Open House will be from 4:30 to 8:30.
