[ARCHIVED] Park Forest Fire Department's babysitter/latchkey class begins July 28

The Park Forest Fire Department’s babysitter/latchkey class teaches teenaged babysitters, and children who stay home alone, how to handle most emergency situations they may be confronted with.

First aid, infant CPR, fire safety, personal security, severe storms and power outages are covered in the 12-hour course. Students get hands-on training in infant CPR, and experience the sounds and fury of a tornado. Children attending this class are often called upon to make adult decisions about their safety and the safety of younger children. The information they receive proves to be highly valuable in times when fast decision-making becomes necessary.

To register your child for the next class being held July 28 to August 1, contact the Recreation and Parks Department at 708-748-2005.
