Park Forest opens second annual ‘Name the Plow’ contest

Village of Park Forest - Public Works News Posted on October 27, 2025

The Village of Park Forest Public Works Department has kicked-off its second annual Name the Plow contest for residents to submit name ideas for one of the Village’s snowplows.

Residents may submit entries from Oct. 27 through Nov. 7. On Nov. 10, the Public Works crew will select the top 10 names from all submissions. Community voting on the finalists will take place from Nov. 11 through Nov. 25, and the winning name will be announced the week of Dec. 1.

According to Public Works Director Roderick Ysaguirre, the contest is part of the department’s community engagement efforts and provides residents an opportunity to participate in a lighthearted activity ahead of the winter season.

“We wanted to create something that helps residents engage with Public Works and the services we provide,” Ysaguirre said. “It’s a fun way for the community to get involved.”

The first Name the Plow contest was held in 2024. Last year’s winning name, Snowbegone Kenobi, was submitted by Matthew Albano and Hayden Chiappetta, whose entry received the most votes from residents. The name was added to one of the Village’s snowplows following the announcement.

Ysaguirre said the process for this year’s contest will follow a similar format, with residents submitting names, Village staff selecting finalists, and the community voting to determine the winner.

The winning name will be displayed on one of Park Forest’s snowplows, and the individual who submitted it will receive public recognition and a photo opportunity with the vehicle.
