Park Forest residents have chosen “Scoop Dogg” as the winning name in the Village’s second annual Name the Plow contest. The playful, Snoop Dogg–inspired entry received 16 votes, earning the top spot among this year’s community favorites.
The 2025 contest opened to residents from Oct. 27 through Nov. 7, during which 19 name suggestions were submitted. Public Works staff reviewed all entries and selected the Top 10 finalists on Nov. 10. Community voting then ran from Nov. 11 through Nov. 25, leading to this year’s winning selection, announced during the week of Dec. 1.
The runner-up, “Mr. Salty,” received 6 votes.
The full Top 10 finalists included:
- Sleet Caroline
- Frostradamus
- Frosty Flakes
- The Snow Wave
- Live, “Snow,” Discover
- Scoop Dog
- The Grinch
- Mr. Salty
- Plow-Nado
- Chow Down
Public Works Director Roderick Ysaguirre said the contest continues to serve as a fun and engaging way for residents to connect with Village operations ahead of the winter season.
“We wanted to create something that helps residents engage with Public Works and the services we provide,” Ysaguirre said. “It’s a lighthearted way for the community to get involved.”
Park Forest introduced the annual naming contest in 2024. Last year’s winning name, “Snowbegone Kenobi,” now appears on one of the Village’s plows.
With this year’s vote complete, “Scoop Dogg” will soon be displayed on a Public Works snowplow. The resident who submitted the winning name will also receive public recognition and a photo opportunity with the newly named vehicle.
