The Park Forest Police Department swore in its newest officer at the board meeting held on Monday night at Village Hall.
Officer Jessica Rodriguez, who hails from LaGrange, Illinois, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role, according to Chief Brian Rzyski. She graduated from Ombudsman High School, known for its personalized educational approach, before continuing her education at Northwestern College in Bridgeview. There, she earned an associate's degree in applied science in criminal justice, which she said provided her with a solid foundation for her career in law enforcement.
Rodriguez's passion for serving her community began during her seven years as an asset protection manager. In this position, she honed her skills in safety and security, developing a keen understanding of risk management and loss prevention. She attributes her experience in this role to a unique insight into the challenges of maintaining public safety and effective management practices.
In addition to being an officer, Rodriguez is a mother to her 18-year-old daughter, Jaylene Nunez, who is preparing to embark on her academic journey with aspirations of becoming an anesthesiologist. Outside of her professional life, Rodriguez enjoys exploring new places, staying active at the gym, and expressing her creativity through baking.
Rodriguez is the third officer to be sworn in this year. In late January, Officers Austin Behrens and Ryan Abu-Romman took their oaths of office in the presence of their families, friends, and fellow officers.
To commemorate the ceremony, Rodriguez's daughter, Jaylene, pinned her mother's badge.
