Park Forest will honor community leaders, volunteers, artists, and difference-makers at the Park Forest Community Oscar Awards later this month.
The awards ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Freedom Hall, 410 Lakewood Blvd., celebrating individuals, businesses, and organizations whose contributions help strengthen the Village.
Hosted by the Commission on Human Relations, the event recognizes excellence across a wide range of categories, from civic leadership and education to the arts, sports, and volunteerism. Residents who wish to honor someone can submit nominations by Friday, Jan. 9, using the official form available from the Community Relations Department.
“This event is about shining a light on the people who quietly—and sometimes not so quietly—make Park Forest a special place to live,” said Community Relations Manager Evelyn Randle. “These awards allow us to say thank you to those who give their time, talent, and passion back to the community.”
Awards include the Pioneer Award, recognizing long-standing residents who have served Park Forest for 20 years or more; the Volunteer Extraordinaire Award, honoring outstanding civic leadership; and the Community Advocate Award, celebrating businesses that invest in students through scholarships and educational opportunities.
Other categories recognize excellence in education, public service, and public safety. The Beyond the Call of Duty Award honors police officers and firefighters who exceed expectations in serving their communities. The ceremony also highlights cultural and creative contributions through awards such as Timeless Artist, Spoken Word, Stellar Voice, and Cultural Arts.
“The Park Forest Community Oscar Awards reflect the diversity of talent and commitment found throughout our Village,” Randle said. “From educators and students to artists, historians, and athletes, these honorees represent the heart of Park Forest.”
These awards not only honor achievement but also celebrate the spirit and community that define Park Forest. The ceremony will wrap up by bringing together honorees and residents, reflecting on the Village’s shared pride and continued growth.
