The Village of Park Forest is hosting the next installment of the Reimagining Cabaret concert series with "Reimagining Cabaret – The Genres Explored," debuting at Freedom Hall's Nathan-Manilow Theater on Saturday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Park Forest's very own indoor performing arts venue, the Nathan Manilow Theatre at Freedom Hall, is a premier concert venue in Chicago's south suburbs. It seats 287 guests and is located at 410 Lakewood Boulevard in Park Forest, Illinois

Cultural Arts Supervisor Victor Blackful said tickets are available now, ranging from $30 to $55. He mentioned that the show received critical praise from CBS Chicago, the Chicago Sun-Times, and NBC Chicago. The Chicago Sun-Times hailed the experience as "incredible singing, scatting, snapping, and dramatic flair," leaving audiences "rapt from start to finish."

Blackful said after watching the show earlier this year, he had to bring it to Park Forest.

"This is the first time this show has been this far south in the southland," Blackful said. "This vibrant concert experience will continue its mission of reintroducing audiences to the timeless tradition of cabaret—through the soul-stirring sounds of jazz, rhythm and blues, classical, musical theatre, and more. And it's all happening right here in Park Forest."

Created, produced, and directed by Lynn Colbert-Jones, Managing Director of Black Voices in Cabaret and recipient of the 2024 Chicago BroadwayWorld Award for Best Cabaret/Concert/Solo Performance, Blackful said the production promises to both honor the genre's roots and push its boundaries. With Theodis Rodgers, Jr. as music director and Margaret Murphy-Webb returning as emcee, he said the evening is set to deliver musical brilliance with signature flair and spontaneity.
