Four new art pieces have been installed on the art display pedestals in the water feature of the Village Green. This installation features local artist and Tall Grass Arts Association member, Jennifer Meyer who characterizes herself as a Found Object Sculptor that works exclusively with found objects and recycled material. Each of these pieces adds to the story of community, sustainability and culture in Park Forest. Leased from the artist, these pieces will be on display for a two-year period. These new sculptures join two pieces by Jennifer Meyer already on permanent display in the Village Green. The first is an arrangement of seven groupings of flowers and butterflies in the fountain in the center of the Village Green that “dance in the wind, mimicking the natural movement of outdoor botanical life”. The second, “Horse with No Name” is made from collected catalytic converter covers and garage door springs. This wind animated; piece harkens back to the time when the horse was the engine of progress. Being made from the waste of the next wave of progress, the viewer is invited to contemplate a simpler time and the various impacts of this progress on the environment.
