The Park Forest Recreation & Parks Department offers an array of programs unmatched by most communities its size.  Among the amenities are picnic areas, Park Forest Aqua Center, 15 playground areas, a skateboard park, dog park, an indoor Tennis and Health Club, 20 park sites, and three miles of hiking trails in the Thorn Creek Nature Preserve & Nature Center. That's in addition to a 45-acre wetland restoration project and the preservation of nearly 12,000 trees on public lands throughout the Village.

Enjoy nationally renowned performances in music, dance and theater at Freedom Hall, Nathan Manilow Theatre.  During the summer, grab a blanket, pack a snack and position yourself in the Park Forest Downtown Village Green (Cunningham and Main Streets) for MainStreet Nights.

South Suburban Special Recreation Association is a therapeutic recreation program that is an extension of the Park Forest Recreation & Parks Dept. SSSRA is organized to provide individuals with special needs or disabilities the opportunity to be involved in year-round recreation programs.

The Park Forest Recreation & Parks brochure is published three times a year (Winter, Summer, Autumn) and mailed to all Park Forest residences.  Current programs and classes are listed on our website, however on-line registration is not available at this time. 

The Recreation & Parks office is located in the Village Hall at 350 Victory Dr. Park Forest, IL
Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday.

Photo Policy
Village of Park Forest staff, contracted and volunteer photographers periodically take photos of program participants and park visitors. Please be aware that these photos are for Village of Park Forest use only and may be used in future publications, websites and paid advertisements.

What you should know about Emerald Ash Borer 

New Recreation Center Construction Entrance as of 7/23/12 -

1.       During construction, Recreation program participants will enter off of Wilson Street.

2.       The new address for the Recreation Center is 215 Wilson Street.

3.       Please enter the building through Door #3 (blue flag).

4.       Parking is available on the west side of Wilson Street and in the North parking lot.

Beginning the week of July 23, 2012 there will be changes to the entry/exit point of the Park Forest Recreation Center located at Forest Trail Middle School.  Please make a note of the following changes as we apologize for the sudden change.
