Time is ticking for residents of Park Forest to purchase their vehicle stickers.
Assistant Finance Director Sharon Floyd reminded residents to purchase stickers by May 1.
"Vehicle stickers must be purchased and properly displayed on all vehicles registered in the Village of Park Forest by the end of the business day on May 1, 2023, to avoid late fees and fines," Floyd said.
Floyd added a late fee of $25 will be assessed for all vehicle sticker purchases made on or after May 2, and a late fee of $50 will be assessed for all vehicle sticker purchases made on or after Aug. 1.
With the additional fees, stickers purchased May 2 through July 31 are $75, and stickers purchased Aug. 1 and later are $125. Floyd added vehicles would be considered delinquent after Oct. 31. Citations may also be issued by Park Forest Police for vehicles not displaying the current year’s vehicle sticker.
Residents who have yet to purchase a new vehicle sticker for 2023-24 should visit Village Hall during normal business hours. Longer than normal wait times are expected leading up to May 2. Residents interested in reducing wait times may purchase their vehicle sticker online for an additional fee by visiting villageofparkforest.com/finance.
The year's sticker touts the Village's grant funding success since 2005. It shows a picturesque view of the Village's Central Park Wetlands just above language that refers to Park Forest as "A Municipal Leader in Grant Funding." The sticker notes the awarding of over $45 million in grants the Village has secured since 2005.
Vehicle stickers for the 2023-24 year went on sale March 1.
