Join the Park Forest Fire Department for the following activities being held in recognition of Fire Prevention Week!

On Thursday, October 9 the Park Forest Fire Department will hold the annual silent twilight parade. This is the 34th year for this event which brings together fire trucks from surrounding communities in a silent tribute to firefighters who have fallen while protecting others during the past year.

The parade will begin with a short non-denominational memorial service at St. Irenaeus Church, 78 Cherry Street, beginning at 6 p.m. Following the service, the parade will proceed silently down a four-mile route through Park Forest, returning to the Fire Department for a reception. Residents are encouraged to stand at the curb to show their support as the parade passes.

On Saturday, October 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., take a tour of the firehouse and meet the fire personnel who serve your community! During the open house, demonstrations along with fire safety information will be provided. A child seat safety check will also be held. Additionally, there will be several activities for children including presentations in the Fire Safety trailer! Parents, this is a great event and opportunity for kids!
