IHDA Emergency Rental Assistance
Help is on the way! Keep reading to learn more.
Have you been having difficulty paying rent since the pandemic began earlier this year? You may qualify for one-time assistance of up to $5,000.
The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) is administering the Coronavirus Relief funds allocated to the State of Illinois via the CARES Act and has developed the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERA) to support Illinois tenants unable to pay their rent due to a COVID-19-related loss of income. Tenants whose application is approved will receive a one-time grant of $5,000 paid directly to their landlord to cover missed rent payments beginning March 2020 and prepay payments through December 2020, or until the $5,000 is exhausted, whichever comes first. South Suburban Housing Center has partnered with IHDA to provide assistance to those needing help with their application, as well as provide outreach! A submitted application is not a guarantee of assistance.
Applications will be accepted August 10 through August 21, 2020*
The portal will open Monday, August 10, at 9 a.m.
*The application window may close early due to high volume.
