The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has implemented a nationwide initiative focused on enhancing public awareness of EPA financial assistance. Another goal of this initiative is to increase public awareness regarding improvements that municipalities make as a result of the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan programs. The Village of Park Forest was recently approved for a $1,509,330 low interest loan (0.83%) for the following project. $400,000 of the loan amount will be forgiven by the State of Illinois pursuant to principal forgiveness provisions contained in the Loan Rules.
Construction/replacement of water mains at various locations, Village wide, in Park Forest, Illinois, will be financed by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project includes the construction/replacement of approximately 13,200 feet of water mains along with new valves, hydrants and water services. Locations of work consist of Apache St, Arrowhead St, Windsor St, Lester Rd (Sauk Trail to Indianwood Blvd), Nassau St, Antietam St, Apple Ln/Ct, Washington St (Wilshire St to Westgate St), Washington Ct, Monee Rd at Monee Ct, and Monee Ct. Once complete, it will improve water service for area residents and businesses by improving system reliability. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
