Due to the deteriorating condition of the roadway, Well Street and Well Court will be resurfaced starting in the spring of 2021. The project will also include drainage improvements; complete curb and driveway apron replacement; and sidewalk repairs as needed.
Beginning Monday, May 10, 2021, weather dependent, work will begin with tree root pruning in the right of way, followed by sewer work. When work begins, parking restrictions will be put in locations where work is occurring. The Department of Public Works asks that cars be kept off the street and parked on driveways whenever possible. However, as the project progresses, there will be a time when residents will lose access to their driveway. This will occur when the curb and driveway aprons are replaced. Residents will be notified prior to this taking place. While this will be an inconvenience, we will work will all residents to find adequate street parking until we can allow access to driveways again.
This project will take place during working hours, Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm and is expected to last through July. Residences should expect common construction inconveniences such as traffic congestion, dust, noise, and heavy equipment. The Department of Public Works will follow up frequently with letters, updates to this website, and door hangers advising on construction progress.
We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as we complete this work. If you have any questions, please call (708) 503-7702 for updates.

This week, the right of way in front of your property was restored with topsoil and grass seed. In order to ensure that the grass begins to grow, please keep the area watered during the hot summer days. Without water, the grass will not grow and weeds will begin to take over. Once you have significant grass growth (approximately 70% coverage), you may remove and dispose of the straw blanket covering the area. This will allow you to mow the area. Mowing remains the responsibility of the homeowner and helps fill in holes in the initial grass growth. If you need additional seed to fill in gaps in the restored area, please contact the Village .
We thank you in advance for your cooperation . If you have any questions, please call (708) 503-7702.

Concrete work is nearly complete and Well Street residents are again gaining access to their driveways. DPW would like to inform you of the next steps for this project:
1) Grass Restoration: Starting Friday, July 9th, the Contractor will begin restoring only the damaged grass behind the curb with topsoil and seed. During working hours, parking on Well Street will be prohibited. Residents are encouraged to keep their cars either on their driveways or on Westwood Street. Restoration is expected to last approximately one week, whether dependent.
2) Street Resurfacing: After grass restoration the Contractor will mill, patch, and resurface the street with new asphalt. This work is tentatively scheduled to begin on August 2nd, though this date could change. You will be notified when resurfacing work will be beginning. Street resurfacing is expected to last approximately two weeks, whether dependent.
After resurfacing, the project will be substantially complete. We thank you for your continued patience as we complete this work. If you have any questions, please call (708) 503-7702.
