LED Street Light Retrofits

Partnering with Com Ed, the Department of Public Works is aggressively changing out older street light bulbs with LED's. LED lights are brighter and last longer that standard street light bulbs. Additionally, they are more energy efficient, saving the tax payer money. Since 2016, the Village has changed to LED on street lights in the following locations:

  1. Tamarack Street
  2. Indianwood Blvd -Orchard Dr. to Monee Rd. and Forest Blvd. to Western Avenue
  3. Orchard Dr.- Lakewood Blvd. to Rte. 30
  4. Forest Blvd./Norwood Blvd.- Indianwood Blvd. to Western Avenue
  5. Marquette St.-Indianwood Blvd. to Shabbona Dr.
  6. Merrimac Street
  7. Manitowac Street
  8. Meota Street
  9. Main Street- Forest Blvd. to Western Avenue
  10. Park Forest Water Plant
  11. Mid Block Cross Walks at 461 Lakewood Blvd., 235 Indianwood Blvd., 127 Peach St., 255 Blackhawk Dr., and 11 Sangamon Ct.
  12. North and South Streets- East of Orchard Dr.
  13. Village Hall Parking Lot
  14. Freedom Hall 
  15. Park Forest Public Works and Parks Garage
  16. Metra Lot 2-North Street and Homan Avenue
  17. Downtown Park Forest

Village Wide Replacement

The Village recently received a grant to replace all remaining Village Street Lights to LED. Work started April 5th, 2021 and is scheduled to be complete by June 2021

2019 Upgrade-"W" Streets

In the fall of 2019, the Department of Public Works will partner will with Com Ed to replace 160 old high pressure sodium street lights to LED within the " W" street neighborhood of the Village.
