The Park Forest Fire Department has been teaching teenaged babysitters and children who stay home alone how to handle most emergency situations that they may be confronted with since 1979.
First aid, infant CPR, fire safety, personal security and all the babysitting basics are covered in the 12 hour course which is held at the Park Forest Library. The children attending these classes are often called upon to make adult decisions about their safety and the safety of younger children. The information they receive in the babysitter classes will prepare them to handle difficult situations.
The Park Forest Recreation and Parks Department handles the registration for the course and it is featured in their summer program booklet.
